The Songer Institute delivers curriculum in the field of Forensic Sciences to licensed partner institutions. Our current course offerings include a B.S. and M.S. program in Criminal Justice, B.S. or Concentration in Forensic Science, and a M.S. in Forensic Administration.
The curriculum is designed to educate and train law enforcement professionals, graduate and undergraduate students pursuing law enforcement career path using innovative learning and methods in key fields of forensic sciences leading to professional training and certification for law enforcement personnel and future careers for students in the field of forensic science.
The designed curriculum and program meets many of the needs of working adults and students who are seeking careers in the Forensic Science field. The following are some of the core competencies that Songer offers:
- The curriculum and program can be offered either fully online or be taught using a hybrid format.
- This program seeks to help students develop marketable skills sought after by public and private sector employers and the justice system.
- From technical and core competencies to critical thinking and effective communication, this program helps to teach students the foundational competencies of Forensic Studies.
- Students studying Forensic Studies learn how to be forensic specialists who can conduct investigations and examine evidence for so that they can present this evidence in front of criminal or civil law cases.
- Six potential tracks of study from this program include Accounting, Criminalistics, Computer Forensics, Interdisciplinary, Investigations, and Legal Forensics. Based on personal interests and career aspirations, students can choose which track they want to follow. These tracks can be developed further from the current base of courses already developed.
- The courses can be used for “continuing education units” (CEU).
- FSI courses carry college credit (other universities will determine if the credits qualify for their programs).
- Experienced faculty in the field with FBI, law, security and forensic science subject matter experts
- The ability of the student to begin a career in Forensic Science.
- Upward mobility in the student’s workplace.
- The course delivery is an online platform, which will meet the student’s need for convenience and flexibility in hours.
